What Train Are You On ?

WHAT TRAIN ARE YOU ON ??

 Do you remember the song  "PEOPLE GET READY"?  it goes like this....

                      “people get ready there’s a train a comin;

you don’t need no baggage you just get on board;

all you need is Faith to keep the diesels hummin,

you don't need no ticket, you just thank the Lord".

What does that song mean to you in your Spirit?  Way down deep in your gut, how does it grab you?  Well, let me tell you this.....

 It was late in the day, one day, after having devotion with my husband, I heard that song and my spirit began to feel what it meant for me in my soul, deep down. 

I began to remember when I was a young woman, how low I was feeling and how it seemed that everybody around me were moving right along in their own little world; getting everything they wanted, going places, getting the best jobs and driving the best cars.  So when the light bulb finally went off, it wasn’t about what you have; it’s wasn't about the possessions you have or even how much money you have in the bank. 

It came to me so powerfully; that it was all about GOD!  It was all about getting on board and getting right with God.  That train was going and it wasn’t going to wait for those that didn’t want to go.  For those who couldn’t make up their minds what they wanted to do.  That’s life, right!!    It’s all about getting back to God.  That’s how he wanted it in the first place; with him and about him.  That was before Adam and Eve screwed it up.

Most people figure that they can just get up in the mornings, have breakfast and prepare for the day and go about the goings and coming of life as they see it.  It’s more than just that.  What about referencing God?  Where does that play a part in your “normal” day? Did you have any thoughts of picking up your Bible and reading scripture?  My husband calls it “hanging out with the Lord”.  You must develop a personal relationship with him to know what he wants from you.  He simply wants you to trust him and believe.  But you have got to get on board of the same train he’s on.   In order to have God to hear you, you must go though Jesus Christ, FIRST.  The scriptures say it like this…

John 14:6... “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”.

The problems we face everyday are the Lord’s problems.  Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall…..Psalms 55:22      You must believe that he will do these things for you.  And don’t doubt!  There are so many promises that God has for you.  He make promises and cannot lie.   

John 14:13… 13 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in thy name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son".

In every aspect of our being, God is there.  There is nothing that he is not aware of.  We cannot hide from him.  God should be everything.  In all things you must consider what he would have you to do. 

 Proverbs 3:5-6  
 5   Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  6   In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

  

Are you getting on board the train or not?    You don’t want to be left at the station!

What Kind of Seed are You?

The parable about the “sower and the seed” are true of people today.  There are four types of seeds….seeds thrown by the wayside….seeds thrown on stony ground….seeds among the thorns….. or the seeds on the good ground… which are you?  Be true with yourself because God sees and knows the truth.

First, the seed by the wayside is like the seed thrown on ground without soil.  People will hear the Word but will hardly pay any attention to what is said.  These are people who are selfish and only think of themselves and really pay absolutely no attention to what the Word is saying.  They also don’t want to make any changes to the way they live.  Their lives are in complete chaos.  Life is just a valley of destruction and misery.

Second, some seed fall on stony ground or rocks.  There might be a little growth but then it dies, it takes no root.  Some people may listen and hear the Word and for a while they’re fine.  They like or love what they hear but it doesn’t last for long.  People in their circle may laugh at them or put them down for being Jesus followers or Jesus freaks.  Then the interest leaves them and they forget about God’s Word and go right back into the world.

Now thirdly, some seed fall among the thorns or bad weeds.  For a while there, the seed takes root but then all of a sudden the weeds choke it and kill the seed.  These are people who only care about the things of this world i.e.,   money, cars, gambling and such.  The deceitfulness of this worlds riches and the lust of the flesh really choke the Word and there is absolutely no fruit bearing.

 Finally, the seed that falls on good ground, on good soil will take root deeply.  These people are those who hear the Word of God and hold on to it for dear life.  They love the Lord and they believe and trust Him with their whole heart and soul.   God loves these kinds of people.  They have the Holy Spirit inside them to help them to love others, forgive others and live in peace with all people.  It is wonderful to know that God gives people joy and is able to change them from the inside.  Their ways change, their language changes, their thoughts change.  Everything changes and a person becomes a new creature in Christ.  They also don’t sit around and do nothing with what has happened to them; they tell it.  They can’t seem to keep to themselves and as a result they bear some fruit!

Knowing this parable should make us really look at ourselves to know who we are in Christ.  Our need to know God is to love our Savior Jesus Christ.  You must know that you need Jesus in your life and you certainly need to trust him with all your heart and soul.  You will surely be blessed!

Our Lord Learned Obedience

How often are you obedient to even the small things in life?  When was the last time you require your children to be obedient?  Jesus was obedient to His Father in such a way as to have been sinless and to have obeyed to the end.   

Matthew 26:39   And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt”

We are required to be obedient to Jesus Christ our Lord.  In the scriptures, He says,

John 14:15 “if you Love me you will keep my commandments”. 

In your obedience to the Father you should do what is asked of you.  Pray continually.  That is a command of us.  Do you not know that the Lord would have you to give him your cares of this world?  He is asking to protect you from the evil things of this world.  In your obedience you should do as He asks.  There should be no worries in your life and if there are you shouldn’t have them for long.

For those who are parents, do you not want your child to obey you?  When you tell your child not to do this or that, do they not obey, or, do you let them just run amuck?  

Proverbs 22:6, 23:13   “train up a child in the way he should go and when his is old, he will not depart from it”…… “withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die”….

In teaching us obedience the Lord chastises those He loves.   Just as the Lord learned obedience we should learn obedience and teach our children the same.

Luke 11:28

But he said, “Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it”.

 I have learned over the course of time that it is so much easier to do the right thing and being obedient has now become a part of me.  As an elder I am required to relay the message of our Lord.  In that, obedience is certainly on my agenda.  Without obedience you cannot please God.  Does that make sense?  Makes a lot of sense to me. 

 To have that sense of peace and joy, just obey God and leave everything else to him!

Be Not Discouraged

How does one get from under the bondage of “discouragement”?  I believe everyone some time in their lives have been right  there…. discouraged!

Joshua 1:9

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

 We sometimes walk around in a daze not knowing what to do, where to go, who to talk to.  How do I deal with this trial today?  I need to come from under this spell this problem has me in.  Well, what I found out is that you have to leave it at the Cross.  You must give it all to the Lord.  When you have a relationship with the Lord, He wants you to give all your cares to Him. 

I can remember when my husband and I didn’t have jobs or health insurance and he needed an operation.  How discouraging was that?  How was he to get better?  If he didn’t get this operation the doctors said that he would be paralyzed within a few years.  Well, we went to the Lord with that issue and gave it to Him.  We prayed and asked the Lord to take care of it.  And in time, the job came, then the insurance came, the operation happened and now he’s walking just fine. 

One thing I know about God, if you do not have Faith you cannot please Him.  Trust and Faith go hand in hand. 

        

Proverbs 3:5-6

5  Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto thine own understanding, 6  In all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy paths.

Therefore, I urge you to take God at his word and Trust in the Lord!  Do not conform to the ways of this old world and be in bondage of discouragement.  Renew your mind; change the way you do things…do not try on your own to understand anything and give it all to the Lord.  TRUST HIM!      It  works!

Being Born Again

It seems like a really weird question to be asked….   “are you born again?”  Do you know what that means?  Have you been asked that question?  Do you know of someone that is born again?  Some people profess to be born again but they really are not.  They say it from their mouths but they don’t have it in their spirit.  The one sure way of knowing if a person is “truly born again” is by the fruit that they bear…. i.e. having the fruit of the spirit.  These fruits are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance.  These nine visible attributes sum up the life of a true Christian.  Being born again is the spiritual rebirth, the transformation that one must go through to be saved and to enter into the Kingdom of God.

  John 3:3

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God

Now, those who live any other way showing the obvious which are adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness and revellings, shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 

You can take your pick.

Most people don't even give these things a second thought.  Everyone is just going about their day and their own life and not caring where they end up.  I know, because at one time I was even there.  I hadn’t a care in the world.  I got up every day, got in my car, went to work, went to lunch with my friends, picked up my daughter from nursery school, went to dinner, went home, went to bed, and then got up and started my day all over again.  Same old thing …day in and day out.  Not giving any thought to settling down, having a bigger family, growing old and then….you die! 

So when do you give some time to the Lord.  Somewhere in your life you come to realization that there is more to life than just the above.  Oh sure, you go through life doing good and bad, right and wrong, then somewhere along the line you must give God some thought.  Then the “light bulb” goes off.  Then it comes to you that there is a God in Heaven and you find out that it’s time to really get serious and ask the Lord to help you.  Help you to get your life on the right “track”. Help you get out of that miry clay that you’re in.  Help you get out of all the trouble that you’re in.  Ask the Lord to come into your life and take the control that you need in order to get you right.  You must repent and be honest about it and save you from this world of corruption.  This is the only way to receive the peace and the joy you need.  In order for you to see the Kingdom of God you MUST BE SAVED and BE BORN AGAIN of the Spirit.

          John 15:1-11

¹ “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. ² He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes^[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. ³ You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. ⁴ Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. ⁵ “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. ⁶ If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. ⁷ If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. ⁸ This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. ⁹ “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. ¹⁰ If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. ¹¹ I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Profit vs Your Soul

What sense does it make if you have everything you can have and not go to heaven when you die?  What sense is it to be a millionaire or billionaire and be miserable and not know where your soul is going when you close your eyes for the last time?  Some people believe in the after-life where you come back better than you were before.  Some believe that they return as someone or something else.  Truth be told, once to die then the judgment.  Your judgment will be according to your works here on earth.  Not for what you have, who you know, how much money you accumulated and not even how pretty you are.  You might as well throw your pride right out the window.

People walk around in this world thinking that all you have to do is be a good person and they will go to heaven when they die.  Wrong!  Rich people think that all their wealth and giving a little here and there (just to say that they’ve done something is all they need to do) Wrong!  The love of money is the root of all evil.  Did you know, it’s harder for a camel to get through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to get into heaven.  The love of money can really hurt you in the end.

1^st John 2:15-17

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world.  If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.  17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Man is designed to need God.  Most people who have wealth don’t seem to acknowledge God or give him the time of day.

Mark 8:34-38

34   And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.  35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.  36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?  37 Or, what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?  38  Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

What will it be for you?  PROFIT/GAIN vs. YOUR SOUL.  There shouldn’t be any problem deciding what you should do.    

Revelation 20:15 says it best….

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

What is Eternity?

 Keeping your eye on the Lord is only hard if you make it that way.  We are told that we must trust and believe in Him.  We must give of ourselves to Him.  We give up self.  Walking in the ways of the Lord can be done.  Didn't say that the walk was going to be easy, BUT, we, you and I can do it.  And after doing all that, the end comes and we spend the rest of our lives....somewhere!  Did you know ....that somewhere.... is forever and eternally?  What is eternity?  Do you know what ETERNITY really means?  Has it ever crossed your mind to understand what that actually means for you and the people you love.  Take a second and ask yourselves this simple question....."where do I want to be for ETERNITY"?  Let me tell you this first....there are only two places you will go.....with God in Heaven or with Satan in Hell.  Your choice!  Know this though, if you are not a believer, it doesn't mean that these things will not happen.

Matthew 19:16-17

16  And behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?  17  And he said unto him, "Why callest thou me good?  there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments".

Eternally is everlasting...forever....for always....on and on and on.  Bottom line, it's all about believing in the Lord Jesus Christ. He came into this world so that you may be saved and have eternal life in the Kingdom of God.  Being reconcilled back to God.  Being converted.  You must allow the Holy Spirit to come into your life, you must repent of all your sins and trust in the Lord. Do the right thing.  You must refrain from the old way of life to Jesus' way of life.   His way is to have eternal life.  John 3:16 says it perfect...

16  For God so love the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." 

God's Word is truth.  The only way that you will understand His Word is to read your scriptures.  Another way to put it  is "hang out with Him".  Just like you go and hang out with your friends. Take some time and "hang out with Jesus".

John 3:36

36  He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
